Version

Version 2.0

Platform

KF.Social

Operated by

KaneFilous Limited

Welcome to KF.Social, a social app for meeting people and making friends in real life. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using KF.Social, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.

By creating an account or using KF.Social (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We do not sell your personal data, we try to keep things clear, and we are here to help if something goes wrong.

Definitions

Throughout these Terms, the following definitions apply:

  • "We", "us", "our", "KF" means KaneFilous Limited, the company that operates KF.Social.
  • "Service" means the KF.Social website at kf.social and the KF.Social apps for iOS, Android, and the web.
  • "You", "your" means any person who accesses or uses the Service.
  • "Content" means anything you create, upload, or share through the Service, such as posts, comments, photos, videos, voice notes, messages, and profile details.
  • "Gem" means an interest community inside KF.Social where members post and chat.
  • "Table" or "Dinner" means an in-person meetup event that a member hosts and that other members can join.
  • "Matching Fee" means the one-off, flat fee you pay to reserve your seat at a Dinner. It does not cover food or drinks.

1. Who We Are

The Service is operated by KaneFilous Limited ("we", "us", "our", "KF"), a company registered in Ireland. In these Terms, references to KF.Social mean the Service operated by KaneFilous Limited.

These Terms apply to our website at kf.social and to the KF.Social apps for iOS, Android, and the web. Some features may not be available in every country or on every platform.

You can contact us at any time at support@kf.social. For specific matters:

2. These Terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and KaneFilous Limited. They apply together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data, and our Digital Services Act transparency information, which explains how we handle reports and moderation.

When you use paid features, the payment terms in Section 10 (Dinner bookings and the Matching Fee) and Section 12 (in-app purchases), and the app store rules in Section 19, also apply. If there is any conflict between these Terms and a rule that a law or an app store requires, that required rule prevails for the point in question.

3. Eligibility and Age

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use KF.Social. When you sign up you confirm that you meet this age requirement. The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly allow them to register.

You must be at least 18 years old to host or attend an in-person Dinner. Dinners are real-world meetups with other adults, often in venues where alcohol may be served, so they are restricted to adults. See Section 10.

To use the Service you must also:

  • Be able to enter into a binding contract with us
  • Not be barred from using the Service under the laws that apply to you
  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms

We may decline, suspend, or close an account where we cannot reasonably satisfy ourselves that these requirements are met.

4. Your Account and Sign-In

4.1 Creating an account

You need an account to use most of the Service. You can sign in using an email one-time passcode, Sign in with Apple (including Hide My Email), Google Sign-In, or a passkey. Some links we send may include a secure magic link that signs you in. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for activity that takes place through your account.

4.2 Your profile

Your profile, including your display name, photo, and any details you add, helps other people recognise you. Keep it honest and respectful, and do not impersonate anyone else.

4.3 Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app. When you do, your access ends and we begin deleting your personal data through our scheduled deletion process, described in our Privacy Policy. Any upcoming Dinner booking is handled under the cancellation and refund rules in Section 10.6. Some information may be kept for a limited period where we are required to retain it for legal, safety, or financial reasons, and messages you sent to other people may remain visible to them unless they delete them. If this summary and the Privacy Policy differ, the Privacy Policy applies.

5. What KF.Social Offers

KF.Social brings together a social feed, private messaging, interest communities, and in-person meetups. Features include:

  • Social feed: posts, comments, reactions, hashtags, mentions, and stories, with media uploads. You choose who can see what you post.
  • Direct messages: text, voice notes, photos and video, disappearing messages, live location sharing that you start yourself inside a chat, and voice and video calls.
  • Gems: interest communities you can join or be invited to, including through short-code invite links, with their own posts and chat (see Section 9).
  • Dinners and tables: in-person meetups that members host and others can join. A Matching Fee applies when you book a seat (see Section 10).
  • Identity verification: an optional check that can add a verified badge to your profile (see Section 11).
  • Premium and Super Waves: optional paid features bought through your app store (see Section 12).

We may add, change, or remove features to improve the Service or to meet legal or operational requirements. Where a change materially reduces the Service, we will give reasonable notice where we can.

6. Your Content

6.1 You own your content

You keep ownership of the Content you create. By sharing Content through the Service, you grant KaneFilous Limited a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to resize or transcode), publish, and display that Content, only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to show it to the audience you choose. We will not use your Content in external advertising without your separate consent.

This licence lasts for as long as your Content is on the Service. If you delete Content or your account, the licence ends for future use, except that Content you shared with other people may remain with them, and copies may persist in backups for a limited period before they age out.

6.2 Responsibility for your content

You are responsible for the Content you share and you confirm you have the rights needed to share it. Do not post Content that infringes someone else's rights or breaks the law.

7. Acceptable Use

To keep KF.Social safe and welcoming for people, you agree not to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or discriminate against others
  • Post illegal, hateful, violent, or sexually explicit content, or content that sexualises minors
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are
  • Post spam, scams, or misleading content, or manipulate engagement
  • Share another person's private or identifying information without their consent
  • Upload malware, attempt to breach or overload the Service, or scrape it without permission
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to facilitate one

Additional community rules may apply inside individual Gems, set by their owners, as long as they are consistent with these Terms.

8. Reporting and Moderation

You can report content or a person from within the app, or by emailing abuse@kf.social. You can also block someone so they can no longer contact you or see your activity in the ways the Service allows.

We operate a notice-and-action process. When we receive a report, we review the content against these Terms and applicable law and may remove or restrict content, limit its visibility, issue a warning, or suspend or terminate an account. Where we act on content you reported or content you posted, we aim to inform the people affected of the decision and the main reasons for it, and to offer a way to challenge it. Gem owners may also moderate content and members within their community. Full detail of how we handle reports and complaints is in our Digital Services Act transparency information.

9. Gems Communities

Gems are interest communities inside KF.Social. You can discover Gems, join open ones, or join a private Gem through an invite, including a short-code invite link. Inside a Gem you can share community posts and take part in community chat.

  • Gem owners and moderators can set community rules, manage membership, and remove content or members within their Gem, consistent with these Terms.
  • Invite links let other people join a Gem. Only share an invite link with people you intend to invite, and treat a link you receive with the same care you would any other invitation.
  • Your Content in a Gem is visible to the members of that Gem, and to KF for operating and moderating the Service.

10. Dinners and In-Person Events

Dinners are real-world meetups between people who may not have met before. KF.Social helps introduce people and organise the event, but you take part at your own responsibility. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and look after your own safety.

10.1 How Dinners work

  • A member (the host) creates a Table for an in-person event. Guests can join a Table, and venue details are shared with confirmed guests before the event.
  • Hosts are members like you. A host is not an employee, agent, or representative of KaneFilous Limited, and does not act on our behalf.
  • You must be 18 or over to host or attend a Dinner.
  • Guests can cancel their place (see Section 10.6). A host can step back from hosting; where that happens, the KF team may take over organising the event or may cancel it. We are not obliged to provide a replacement host.

10.2 Safety and responsibility

  • You are responsible for your own conduct, safety, and belongings at a Dinner, and for how you get there and home.
  • Any venue, restaurant, or other third party involved in a Dinner is independent of us. Food, drink, and service are provided by them, not by us, and you deal with them directly.
  • We do not vet guests or hosts, and we do not guarantee who will attend, how they will behave, or that any particular outcome will result. You are meeting other adults in a public place and remain responsible for your own choices.
  • You can report or block another member before or after a Dinner (see Section 8).

10.3 Booking and the Matching Fee

To reserve a seat at a Dinner you pay a one-off, flat Matching Fee. The fee is priced per Dinner in the currency shown at booking, and Premium members pay a reduced fee. The exact amount is always shown to you before you confirm.

  • The Matching Fee is processed by Stripe using Apple Pay or a card. The full amount settles to KaneFilous Limited; there is no escrow, and we make no transfers to any third party from your Matching Fee. Your use of Stripe's payment service is also subject to Stripe's own terms.
  • The Matching Fee covers matching, organising, and reserving your seat. It does not cover food or drink: you pay for what you order directly at the venue, and we never handle the venue bill.

10.4 Points

You may earn points and bonus points through activity on the Service. Points can reduce your Matching Fee at the rate of 1,000 points = 1 unit of the booking currency (for example, 1,000 points = £1 off a booking priced in pounds), up to a cap, and the card payment for a booking never falls below a small minimum (currently £1 or the equivalent in the booking currency). Points and bonus points have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred or sold. We may adjust how points are earned or redeemed, and we may remove points obtained through abuse, error, or fraud. Seats cannot be gifted or transferred to anyone else.

10.5 When your card is charged

  • If the Dinner is within 7 days of your booking, your card is authorised when you book and charged when the table is confirmed, about 72 hours before the Dinner.
  • If the Dinner is further out, your card is charged at booking and refunded if the Dinner does not go ahead.

10.6 Cancellations and refunds

This is what happens to your Matching Fee if a booking is cancelled. Food and drink are never part of this, because you pay the venue directly. If you cancel your place:

More than 72 hours before the Dinner (before the venue is revealed) Full refund to your original card
Between 72 and 24 hours before the Dinner Full refund as points
Less than 24 hours before the Dinner No refund

If your card was only authorised and not yet charged, the authorisation is released and no money moves. If we cancel a Dinner, including where the minimum number of seats is not reached, there is a venue problem, or a host or system cancellation ends the event, you automatically receive a full refund to your card plus bonus points, regardless of timing.

Card refunds are processed by us through Stripe back to your original payment method and typically appear within a few business days. Points refunds are credited to your KF.Social account, and any points you applied to a refunded booking are returned. Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Our responsibility for Dinners is limited as set out in Section 15, which does not affect any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Identity Verification and the Verified Badge

Identity verification is an optional feature. If you choose to verify, you scan a government identity document, we read the document (including its machine-readable zone), and you take a selfie with a liveness check so we can confirm the document belongs to you. If the check succeeds, your profile can show a verified badge.

The verified badge indicates that we carried out this identity check for the account. It is not a background check, a safety guarantee, or an endorsement of a person or their conduct. You should still use your own judgement when interacting with anyone, online or in person.

Verification uses biometric data, which is treated as special category data. We only process it with your explicit consent, use a manual review lane where needed, and delete the identity document and biometric data after a decision is reached. This is explained in our Privacy Policy.

12. Premium Subscriptions and Super Waves

KF.Social offers optional paid features: Premium subscription tiers and Super Waves. These are sold only as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not take card payments directly for them. The Dinner Matching Fee is separate: it is paid by card or Apple Pay through Stripe, and refunds for it are handled by us as set out in Section 10, not by the app stores.

  • Billing and payment for Premium and Super Waves are handled by Apple or Google under your agreement with them. The price and, for subscriptions, the renewal term are shown to you before you confirm.
  • Auto-renewal. A Premium subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in line with your app store's rules. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings, not through us.
  • Free trials. Where a free trial is offered, it converts into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends through your app store.
  • Refunds. Because Apple and Google handle payment for these purchases, refunds for them are governed by the stores' policies and are requested through the relevant store. This does not affect any statutory rights you have as a consumer under Irish or EU law that cannot be excluded.
  • Price changes. If we change subscription prices, the change is notified through the app store and takes effect from your next renewal; you can cancel before then if you do not accept it.

Super Waves and other one-time purchases are consumed within the Service and, once used, are generally not refundable except where required by law or your app store's policy.

13. Privacy and Data

We do not sell your personal data. KaneFilous Limited is the controller of the personal data processed through the Service, and our lead supervisory authority is the Irish Data Protection Commission. Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, and object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

For full detail on what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to exercise your rights, please read our Privacy Policy. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@kf.social.

14. Intellectual Property

The Service, including our name, logo, design, and software, is owned by or licensed to KaneFilous Limited and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission, except as allowed by law.

15. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

15.1 Disclaimers

  • The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
  • KF.Social introduces people and provides tools to interact; we do not guarantee the conduct of any user, that you will get along, or that any outcome such as new friendships will result.
  • In-person events and any venues or third parties involved are outside our control, as set out in Section 10.

15.2 What we do not exclude

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections under Irish and EU law, and nothing in these Terms affects those rights.

15.3 Limitation of liability

Subject to Section 15.2, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, data, goodwill, or opportunity. Subject to Section 15.2, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to the greater of the total amounts you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or 100 euro.

15.4 Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify KaneFilous Limited and its officers, employees, and agents against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your Content, or your conduct towards other people or third parties. This does not apply to matters caused by our own breach or negligence, and it survives the closing of your account.

16. Suspension and Termination

You can stop using KF.Social and close your account at any time (see Section 4.3).

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if you breach these Terms, put other people at risk, or use the Service unlawfully, or where we are required to by law. Where it is fair and practical, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond, and you can challenge the decision as described in Section 8. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 6.1, 14, 15, and 18, continue to apply.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example as we add features or to meet legal requirements. If we make a material change, we will give reasonable advance notice by email or through the Service. Continuing to use KF.Social after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can close your account.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or elsewhere, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, and the right to bring proceedings there.

We would rather resolve things directly first, so please contact us at support@kf.social before taking any formal step. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.

19. App Stores

When you download or use the KF.Social app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to the relevant store's terms. For the Apple App Store, the following applies:

  • These Terms are between you and KaneFilous Limited, not Apple Inc.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

The KF.Social app may request access to your device camera, photo library, microphone, location, and notifications for features such as posting media, calls, live location, and reminders. You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.
